sql.phpresetsconnectionimmediatly

i've got an issue with sql.php: it closes the remote
connection (browser <-> httpd) immediatly. is this a
known issue ?

this happened after i upgraded php (4.3.9 -> 5.1.4) -
after that i upgraded phpmyadmin (2.6.0 -> 2.8.2) - but
same error .. .

Tested so far with FF1.5/Konqi3.5.

hmmm, looks a bit too smal.
the purpose of config.default.php is to initialize ALL $cfg
variables.
